ROBERT WILLIAMS

TDMB:  Whaz up Rob?
ROB:     Nothing much.  Just chilling trying to get my my first product (The PitchGard) in the stores soon.

TDMB:  How is the J-O-B... LMAO
ROB:     I knew that you would ask that question.  I am blessed to have such a challenging job   The good Lord has me there for reason so I better just do the best that I can and not complain.

TDMB:  Man stop complaining U had it easy for about ten years at Compaq/HP so it is time for U to do some work.
ROB:     True,  I am earning every cent that I get supporting Financial Computer Systems and Applications at JPMorganChase assisting our traders. They pay me a lot of $$ to do what I do in Information Systems but money is just money to me.  Financial systems are interesting to see how trades happen in different currencies.

TDMB:  How is your Dad, how old is he?
ROB:     He is good and thanks for asking.  He turned 97 on Feb 21st.
What a blessing to have lived a long and healthy life.

TDMB:  Did he play any sports that U know of?
ROB:     Yep,  He was a baseball player.  My uncles always told me how fast he was and that he could hit.  He is only 5'5 so when I caught him in the 9th grade,  I was happy.

TDMB:  Where are U originally from? (I know but tell the TDMB members)
ROB:     Waco, Texas,   Richfield High School,  The Mighty Rams

TDMB:  What sports did U play in High School?
ROB:     Basketball and Baseball

TDMB:  In Basketball U know I would have shut U down and our team would have won by 25 points?
ROB:     If I had one of your 6'9 post men,  we would have given you a game.  You all had a great team but in the open court, I would have dunked on your Frank.

TDMB:  U are a very smart young man did U graduate from High School with any honors?
ROB:     I graduated with a 3.2 but that was average @ my school.   There were some brains @ my high school but it prepared me for college.  I wish that I would have taken Calculus in high school because it would have been easier in college.

TDMB:  U are another graduate of the Purple and gold (PV)
ROB:     Yep,  Class of 85'.  Bachelor of Science in Math/Computer Science
Minor in Management

TDMB:  How was that experence of going to an HBU?
ROB:     Great.  I got a Master of Science in Information Systems (MIS)
It prepared me for a computer management job some day or how to run your own business.  It was hard going @ night from 6-10 and working for Exxon @ the time.

TDMB:  U played baseball in College right?
ROB:     yes I did and had a blast.

TDMB:  I know U made All Conference but did U all win any games?
Rob:      Yep,  I made All-Conference  several times and Academic All-American my senior year.  I led the SWAC 3 of my 4 years in college.  The year that I got hurt,  I did not get enough @ bats to qualify for the NCAA Div I batting title. Gary Charlotte was 2nd in the Nation @  .471 but I hit .482 that year and made All-SWAC as a 2nd baseman.  My first 3 years we won a lot of games but my senior year was a bust.  I was 6th in the NCAA @ .464 but our team did not do well so it really did not matter.  It takes everyone to win games.  Yes,  I stood out that year but loosing so many games really bothered me.  I just did my job and tried to motivate my teammates to do their best.

TDMB:  The year that U were leading the nation in hitting before U got hurt what was your batting avg.
ROB:     .482

Fresh:  .477
Soph:  .396
Jr     :   .482
SR:     .464

TDMB:  What was your highest batting avg. in College?
ROB:     .482.  I think that I would have hit over .500 that year
because the ball looked like a basketball.  When we played out of conference
against, Sam Houston , Southwest Texas and others,  I smashed them also.
If you have quick hands,  you can hit anyone's fastball.  I hit the slider the other way so I never had problems hitting good pitching.

TDMB:  Tell me all the honors U achieve in College?
ROB:     All-SWAC:  Outfielder, 2nd Baseman,  Academic All-American
President's Honor Roll 7 of 8 semesters.  3.4 GPA

TDMB:  U are in Prairie View Hall of Fame?
ROB:     Yes I am.  Got inducted in 1995.  My coach made sure that I got in while he was living because I would have probably gotten passed up for years.

TDMB:  I am proud of U, I know a lot of people but I only know of a couple people in a Hall of Fame.
ROB:     Thanks Mogilla Gorilla

TDMB:  When did U start playing softball?
ROB:     I played as a kid in the Summer time @ the YMCA and it never
bothered my baseball swing.

TDMB:  What teams have U played for?
ROB:     OOOOH,,,   The Rebels,  Maxie Barber,  The Silver Bullets,  E&M, Medicade,  The Gladiators,  The Raiders, Sports Extra and TopDog.

TDMB:  U are one of the best hitter I have play with and against would U use an alter bat?
ROB:     Thx,  I worked @ hitting and my whole game when I played.  I am going to be a helluva 50 and over player in 5 years.  On Altered Bats:  Nah,  I have always been strong and hit with God given talent.  This has been a big topic this week.  I just hate to see people get hurt "PLAYING" a game for t-shirts, plaques and bragging rights.  I guess I am getting older and rather be in my boat fishing with my buddies Clark and Bobby or in my deer stand waiting for Piggly Wiggly or Bambi's daddy to step out.

TDMB:  U and I have talk about this, I believe if U can hit U can hit with a stick so why do U think softball players are using alter bats?
ROB:     I think that players have them because so many people have them.  I remember playing @ the Sickle Cell years ago and this team hammered us with a Titanium bat that was legal that weekend only.  We got one from Machine and beat them.  Machine left and we got drove the next game.  Go figure.  The bat was legal but for only a short time.

TDMB:  Including High School, College, Select Baseball, and Softball how many Championships have U won?
ROB:     Well,  I never won one in high school or college.  In high school,   we got 2nd my Jr. and Sr. years and only 1 team made the playoffs then.
My amateur baseball team, "The Mighty Dallas A's"  was one of the greatest amateur teams ever.  We won 4 national Championships in 6 years.  I was on the 88 and 90' championship teams before moving to Houston in 91'.  We went to Rotterdam Holland in 89' and Panama City , Panama in 93'.

Softball:  2000 BASA championship:  The Great Medic-Aide team.  House, Puff, Tony Wash, Andre Owens,  Daryl Wayne, Reese,  Spooby,  Stoney,  Mike Cain , Jack Crawford,  Clark,  Ray Butler,  Rico Brown,  Woo,  Joe Porter, Lloyd Tee Burbridge.  What an awesome team.  People remember that team or remember getting drove by them.

TDMB:  How do U like Coaching Lady Top Dog?
ROB:     I love coaching them.   They are all special in their own ways and the sky is the limit for them.

TDMB:  Is it just me,  but are Women just different?
ROB:     Sometime they are but they probably think the same about the guys.   A lot of them can play with or better than a lot of the guys. They play with  lot of  fire and play hard in your 5-Man.   That is all that you and I expect them to do.  We just try go put them in a position to win and be successful.

TDMB:  We better leave that subject along, are U married?
ROB:     Not Yet

TDMB:  Do U every plan on getting married?
ROB:     Yes I plan to someday.  I am the last of 7 in my family and some of my sisters think that I will be a bachelor my whole life and continue traveling the world.

TDMB:  Do U have any children?
ROB:     Not yet.  I have had a lot of fun trying to make some though......

TDMB:  Being one of the SBSA eligible bachlor's, physically what kind of women do U like?
ROB:     Even though I am working to get back in shape,  I like someone who cares about their health.  You always feel better if you look good.

TDMB:  Mentally what type of women U like?
ROB:     They have to be able to talk about more than some Alicia Keys Videos on BET.  I am a deep person and can tell pretty fast if someone is on my level mentally.

TDMB:  Tell me something about Robert Williams that most on the circuit do not know about U
ROB:     I like working with kids even though I do not have my own yet.  They are the future and need positive role models.   I hope to open up my Academic & Athletic Training Center one day.  I plan to invent 2 or 3 products per year for the next 5 years and get them to the market.  I also am helping other friends get their products to the market and will help you if you ask.  You have a great mind so use it.  I read a lot and try to learn something new everyday.

TDMB:   Do U have any shout outs?
ROB:      To all of my friends on many teams.   My Dog Clark whom I talk to everyday about something,   Top Dog and Lady Top Dog players and coaches,  My PV baseball family around the country, Barfield, Harpo, Uri and others.

TDMB: Thanks Rob U are my brother for life.
ROB:    You too ,  take care
